How can one accuse me of lying (more than often spelled incorrectly by the Scott commentator) in a novel?

Anyone who can explain this confounding response will gladly win my respect.

In a novel, one has the liberty to tell a story the way they wish. But thank you so much for quoting Ambrose Bierce a great novelist telling the story of whose conscience “wins.” Time will tell whose conscience is troubled! As for your “I cost the township $25,000” comment-please do post in formal documentation from what you are referring to with such conviction. And please do show me how that expenditure is attributed to me- I gladly await this documentation! Until then, your comments will simply exist in the “lying” category.
